I draw from different approaches in order to listen effectively to your individual experiences. I provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental and empathetic space for you to explore, understand and cope with life's difficulties. My approach is integrative and relational which means I work collaboratively with you and your unique experiences.

I have developed a particular interest in Polyvagel Theory (Steven Porges 1994). Clients with a history of trauma can often experience more extreme autonomic responses which in turn can affect their ability to feel safe and connect with others. Learning about our own autonomic nervous system opens the door to self-compassion. We are all faced with a dilemma of balancing the drive to survive with the longing to connect with an other.

I have experience supporting people from all different walks of life, coping with a wide range of difficulties such as anxiety, work related stress, particularly in the health care sector, bereavement, sudden loss, childhood trauma, abuse, family conflict and relocation.

Therapy

I offer one to one talking therapy. The session lasts 50 minutes and takes place on the same day and time each week. It is important to have an initial meeting to have an open discussion about your needs and for me to answer any questions you might have about the process.

This is a chance to see if you feel that we can work together. I also offer video and telephone counselling to those who travel and need more flexibility in order to continue with their sessions.
